Conference perspectives of Theatre Studies 4

Czech Association for Theatre Studies in cooperation with the Czech Theatre Studies Department of the Arts and Theatre Institute, Department of Theatre Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague, Department of Theory and Criticism of the Academy of Performing Arts, AMU, Prague, Theatre Department of the National Museum, Department of Theatre Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno, Department of Theatre and Film Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Palacký University, Olomouc, and the academic journal Czech Theatre Review organizes the conference perspectives of Theatre Studies 4.

The goal of the meeting is to present the current issues in theatre studies, research achievements, publications, or emerging objectives and challenges.
The conference offers space for papers of any focus: methodological, theoretical or historiographical, partial presentations and reports related to the research of theatre, cultural performances and adjacent arts.

You can contribute with:

the regular conference paper (20 minutes)
shorter presentation (10 minutes)

Collectives with joint-presentations can also apply.
Language: Czech or English.

As part of the conference, there will be discussion panels addressing the following issues:

theatre studies and education (coordinators: Daniela Jobertová – Martin Pšenička)
museum documentation of theatre (coordinator: Libor Vodička)
theory/methodology of theatre historiography (coordinators: Otto Drexler – David Drozd – Berenika Zemanová)

The content will be specified in more detail in the conference program. Announced contributions to the panel discussion are welcome.

Supplementary program: On May 25, the general meeting of the Czech Association for Theatre Studies will take place. As part of the meeting, the results of the 12th Václav Königsmark Award will be announced. A sales exhibition of books will take place during the conference.

Email your applications with abstracts of conference papers (700–1000 characters) to perspektivy@teatrologie.cz. Deadline: March 31, 2023 (after this deadline, only the option of aplications without a conference contribution will remain open). The conference program will be published at the end of April 2023.

Venue: Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures, Betlémské náměstí 1, Praha 1.
